2022 World Cup: South Korea coach Paulo Bento resigns after leaving Brazil
Bento’s side were eliminated from the tournament after losing 4-1 to Brazil.
The 53-year-old Portuguese was appointed boss of South Korea in August 2018.
“We only have to think about the future and it will not be with the South Korean national team,” said Bento.
“I just informed the players and the president of the South Korean FA and it is a decision I have made since September and it has been decided.
“Today I confirmed it and I have to thank them for everything they have done.
“They gave everything and I am very happy and proud to be their manager.”
Bento’s side beat home country Portugal 2-1 in the final group game, finishing runners-up in Group H and reaching the last 16.
